The Second Trimester

So this pregnancy so far has been a bit easier on me than the last one. Although trying to keep up with a two year old in the process has been a challenge! I haven't been nearly as sick and have only "lost my lunch" 3 or 4 times, one of which was at the dentist, being I was there for so long, and they made me brush with this fluoride toothpaste stuff, which my stomach did not agree with.
I have been very tired. I am usually in bed by 10 or 10:30 where before I was pregnant I would stay up until midnight, and also am not sleeping well. I also take a nap almost everyday while Alex takes his. I would really rather get stuff done around the house, but right now my priority is keeping up with Alex, and that is not loosing my temper with him because I am tired. So there are many days the house, laundry, dishes, and so on are on the back burner. Brad has been a wonderful help getting up with Alex @ 7:30 every morning so I can sleep until he leaves for work. He has also been helping me out with the house, and I appreciate all of it.
Everything has really been smooth going until a few days ago. I was at the dentist's office with Alex when all of a sudden my fingers became extremely swollen to the point where I had to take my ring off and it hurt to bend my fingers. I called my doctor and they wanted me to get my blood pressure checked immediately, luckily we have an automated one here at the house. It was a little high, nothing to be alarmed about. The nurse told me really watch my diet, and drink LOTS of water. She said it would help bring the swelling down and check my blood pressure once a day just to make sure everything is okay.
So other than the little scare today, everything has been going well. We are getting very excited and in about 3 weeks we will find out what the sex of the baby with be.
With Baby #2 on the way it's amazing how fast things are changing. We are already talking about a play room for Alex, since his stuff takes up the entire living room. We have moved our desk room out of the basement and into our bedroom, with a small antique desk we found it actually goes perfectly in there. I have been looking at fabric to sew the crib bedding for a boy or girl. Also, when you ask Alex where his baby brother is he points to his stomach and when you ask him where his baby sister is he point to mine. It makes you wonder if he is right or wrong!

Other than being tired this pregnancy seems to be smooth sailing compared to when I was pregnant with Alex, so maybe that means it's a girl since so many things are already different about this one. That might just be hopeful thinking though.
